Russian Fertilizer Plant Struck in Second Drone Attack Within Months

Другий дроновий напад за кілька місяців вразив російський завод добрив.

Drone Strike Targets 'Dorogobuzh' Plant

On the night of February 25, drones attacked the Dorogobuzh nitrogen fertilizer plant, located in Russia's Smolensk region. The strike ignited a fire within the facility's grounds. Photographs of the incident were taken from a distance of 1.3 kilometers. This marks the second assault on this chemical and fertilizer production enterprise, following a similar attack in December of last year.

Plant's Significance and Attack Aftermath

The Dorogobuzh plant is a notable producer of materials including ammonium nitrate. The Main Directorate of Intelligence of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense also released information concerning enterprises of the Russian holding 'Russian Helicopters'. According to Ukrainian intelligence, the following entities are not currently under sanctions:

  • 34 enterprises of the state corporation 'Rostec';
  • 14 plants and service centers.

This data indicates that certain Russian industrial operations continue their activities despite international restrictions. The use of drones in such strikes highlights their evolving role in modern conflict, extending beyond frontline battles to strategic economic targets. This latest attack on the Dorogobuzh facility may signal escalating regional tensions and demonstrates how drones are being utilized as instruments in military conflicts. Given the strategic importance of plants like Dorogobuzh in fertilizer production, such strikes could have significant repercussions for Russia's agricultural sector. Furthermore, the information about enterprises continuing to operate despite sanctions points to potential vulnerabilities in the enforcement systems and the overall impact of international restrictions on the Russian economy.
