Long-range drones of the SBU's Special Operations Center 'Alpha' attacked the Filanovsky oil production platform, owned by the company 'Lukoil-Nizhnevolzhskneft'. This is the first strike on Russian oil infrastructure in the Caspian Sea. Four hits on the platform have been recorded, leading to a halt in oil and gas extraction from over 20 wells.

The Filanovsky field is one of the largest in the Russian sector of the Caspian Sea. The extracted products were sent for export via the Caspian Pipeline Consortium. It is worth noting that this is not the first instance of SBU drones attacking the Russian oil and gas sector.

'The SBU continues successful special operations against the Russian oil and gas sector. This is a reminder to Russia that all its enterprises contributing to the war are legitimate targets, wherever they may be,' an informed source in the SBU reported.

Earlier, on December 10, SBU drones attacked an oil tanker in the Black Sea. The vessel, which was heading to the port terminal 'Novorossiysk', belongs to Russia's 'shadow fleet' and had its transponder turned off.

The events confirm Ukraine's activity in controlling its waters and its desire to protect economic interests in the region.
