The Role of Drones in Ukraine
Drones play a crucial role in deterring Russian troops in Ukraine, accounting for 60% of all enemy target hits. In November alone, drones completed over 304 thousand missions, indicating their effectiveness in modern warfare. In particular, approximately 81.5 thousand enemy targets have been hit or destroyed thanks to drones.
Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, notes that after a period of relative parity, Ukrainian forces have once again surpassed the enemy in the use of FPV drones. This reflects the strategic approach of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in employing cutting-edge technologies in combat operations.
It is worth noting that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are scaling up drone units in territorial defense brigades and developing ground robotic complexes in the Ground Forces. This demonstrates the Armed Forces' commitment to continuously improving their capabilities in response to threats from Russia, which aims to achieve monthly supplies of half a million FPV drones.
The Use of Drone Technologies
The use of drone technologies in Ukraine continues to change the course of combat operations, providing Ukrainian forces with an advantage in warfare. The focus on expanding drone units and integrating them into the structure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine showcases the commitment to adapt to modern challenges.
This may also indicate the need for increased support from international partners to ensure technological development and training of Ukrainian troops in the future.
