Well-known Ukrainian investigative journalist and founder of the Bihus.Info project Denis Bigus announced his mobilization to the Armed Forces of Ukraine after receiving a summons. He commented on his decision with irony, speaking about the offer from the Vinnytsia Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support.
'The Vinnytsia TCK made me an offer that is hard to refuse. And although right now, at this moment, as I am recording this, I am still a civilian, I think by the time you see this, I will no longer be... as they say in TikToks... a person in the status of a person,' Bigus stated.
The journalist shared that he expected mobilization and viewed civilian life as a temporary break. He emphasized that he never had a reservation from conscription. Previously, he served in a special unit of the patrol police during the invasion of 2022 but was discharged.
The work of the Bihus.Info project will continue
Denis Bigus emphasized that his Bihus.Info project will continue to operate fully even in his absence. The journalistic team plans to release investigations and expose corruption schemes.
Government actions regarding mobilization
According to the legislation, mobilized citizens are sent to the combat zone only after appropriate military training. Also, in the mobile app 'Reserve+', there will be an opportunity for online deferment applications for parents of children with disabilities.
Additionally, individuals serving sentences may be mobilized under legislation that provides for early conditional release for service under contract. Ukrainians over 60 years old can also voluntarily sign contracts for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine to perform auxiliary tasks.
Ukrainian journalist Denis Bigus was mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine due to receiving a summons from the Vinnytsia Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. He stated that he plans to fulfill his duties in defense of the country, but emphasized that his journalistic project will continue to operate and investigate corruption schemes in his absence.
