Key Steps for Implementing BIM in Ukraine
Nataliia Kozlovska, Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development, has outlined the primary stages for adopting Building Information Modeling (BIM) nationwide. She emphasized that the full-scale launch of BIM hinges on the passage of draft law No. 6383. This legislation is a cornerstone of the Ministry's plans, which were presented alongside an analysis of the market's readiness for the new technology. The adoption of BIM is part of a broader modernization effort within Ukraine's construction sector, aligning it with European and global standards.
Kozlovska urged the relevant parliamentary committee to consider submitting draft law No. 6383 to the Verkhovna Rada for review and to support it in its second reading. The proposed law envisions a phased transition to BIM, allowing for the gradual implementation of new construction standards. A central aspect is defining the timeline for making BIM mandatory, primarily for projects financed by the state budget. The final decision on mandating BIM will be made by the Cabinet of Ministers.
