The Ukrainian authorities presented a new economic development strategy for the country for 15 years, which centers around creating one of the most liberal economies in Europe. At the same time, entrepreneurs state that the document does not yet contain answers to the key challenges that businesses face during the war. This was shared by the people's deputy Yaroslav Zheleznyak in his new video on the YouTube channel 'Iron Deputy.'

The economic strategy for 15 years raised questions from the business community

On June 17, another meeting of the Business Council under the President took place, during which representatives of the business community were presented with a vision for economic development in Ukraine after the war.

According to Zheleznyak, the meeting participants were presented with a concept that envisions building the most liberal economy in Europe. However, the business community approached the document with caution.

As participants reported to Forbes Ukraine journalists, the strategy currently appears more as a general concept of future development rather than a specific action plan.

Entrepreneurs also pointed out that many problems they have raised for years remain unresolved.

Business demands solutions during the war

Among the main issues raised by business representatives are military risk insurance, excessive inspections, de-shadowing the economy, and tax pressure.

According to Zheleznyak, companies continue to operate under the constant threat of shelling, and the lack of effective military risk insurance hinders new investments and the purchase of expensive equipment.

The business community also once again raised the issue of inspections by regulatory bodies and the need to combat tax evasion schemes instead of increasing the tax burden on the legal sector.

Entrepreneurs specifically emphasized the necessity of enhancing competition and establishing predictable rules of operation for all market participants.

A new committee for creative industries was established at the meeting

One of the few concrete decisions made during the meeting was the agreement to create a Committee for the Development of Creative Industries.

Its scope will include culture, art, design, IT, publishing, architecture, the music industry, advertising, the audiovisual sector, and video game development.

Work on the economic strategy will continue at least until the end of autumn. Over the coming months, the government plans to identify priority sectors for development, and the final version of the document will be presented in November.

Earlier, Zheleznyak stated that there could have been multimillion overpayments in the construction of protective structures for Ukraine’s gas transportation infrastructure facilities.
