Holy Fire from Jerusalem Arrives in Ukraine as Zelenskyy Delivers Easter Address

Святе вогнище з Єрусалиму привезли в Україну, поки Зеленський звертається до нації з привітанням до Великодня.

Holy Fire Arrives in Ukraine

The Holy Fire from Jerusalem has been brought into Ukraine via the 'Ustyluh' border crossing point. This arrival occurred on the night of Easter Sunday, following the fire's miraculous descent at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem the previous day. The first to receive the sacred flame were servicemen of the Volyn Border Guard Detachment.

The fire was transported by air from Jerusalem's Church of the Holy Sepulchre to Warsaw, Poland, before continuing its journey by road to the Ukrainian border. A formal handover ceremony was conducted at the 'Ustyluh' checkpoint. The Holy Fire is a central part of Orthodox Easter celebrations, symbolizing the light of Christ's resurrection.

Easter Amidst War

On Easter Sunday, which marked the 1,509th day of the full-scale war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady Olena Zelenska addressed the nation from the historic Saint Sophia's Cathedral in Kyiv. This message formed a key part of the Easter observance for Ukrainians, who were able to mark the significant holiday with the newly arrived Holy Fire.

The delivery of the Holy Fire to Ukraine symbolizes unity and spiritual support for the Ukrainian people, particularly under wartime conditions. The Easter ceremonies carry profound significance, commemorating not only a religious holiday but also the resilience of the nation during a period of immense hardship. The presidential address underscored the vital importance of community and hope for Ukrainians enduring these challenging times.
