Diplomatic Charity Fair 2025: A Show of Solidarity
On May 1, 2025, a charitable diplomatic fair took place at the diplomatic residence, organized by Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and his wife, Tetiana Sybiha. The event gathered foreign diplomats and raised over 1.7 million hryvnias (more than 1,700,000 UAH) to support humanitarian needs for Ukrainian soldiers, internally displaced persons, people with disabilities, the elderly, and animal shelters. This initiative highlights the ongoing international engagement with Ukraine during times of crisis.
The gathering began with a moment of silence in memory of fallen soldiers, underscoring the critical support provided by international partners to Ukraine. Andrii Sybiha remarked:
“Ukraine knows how to appreciate assistance and how to express gratitude. We highly value the contribution of each of our partners and the support provided to Ukraine during the full-scale invasion by the Russian Federation. That is why my wife Tetiana and I decided to bring together the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Ukraine, who joined this important charitable initiative last year.”
Cultural Program and Diplomatic Participation
As part of the event, certificates of appreciation were presented to heads of diplomatic missions. A cultural program featured traditional Ukrainian spring songs (haivky) performed by the children's group 'Oreli,' along with performances by soloist Yevheniia Bodnar and artists from the Cultural Forces, led by Mykola Sierha. Artistic installations and war posters were showcased by artist and serviceman Mykhailo Skop (NEIVANMADE).
Attendees included:
- Ambassadors from Austria, Azerbaijan, Argentina, Brazil, China, Spain, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Mexico, Pakistan, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, and Turkey;
- Chargés d'affaires from Armenia, Georgia, Iraq, and Poland.
A key part of the event was the demonstration of Ukrainian defense industry unmanned systems, Skyfall and Ratel.
Tetiana Sybiha noted:
“Today's event is an opportunity to thank everyone, report on the use of funds, and encourage other embassies to become even more active in charitable activities next year.”Major Maksym Horbatiuk, head of the armored service of the 21st Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who was present, emphasized: “We ask you to continue this mutual support—both at the state level and at the societal level. When governments provide material aid and people show solidarity, initiative, and support, together they form that life-saving resource that helps Ukraine endure. We are not asking for charity—we are calling for partnership in a cause that concerns everyone.”
This charitable fair became a significant event for strengthening international support for Ukraine amid the ongoing conflict. The funds raised underscore the solidarity of foreign diplomats with the Ukrainian people and their needs. Importantly, the event highlighted the necessity of continued cooperation between states and societies to address the humanitarian challenges arising from the war.
As Ukraine continues to foster international partnerships, recent developments, such as the cooperation agreement with the Sovereign Order of Malta, further illustrate the nation's commitment to strengthening diplomatic ties. This pact not only enhances humanitarian efforts but also reflects the solidarity shown by various countries in supporting Ukraine.
