Easter Message from His Beatitude Sviatoslav
In a video greeting published on the 'Glavcom' platform, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, the head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, delivered an Easter message to the faithful, explaining the significance of the Resurrection of Christ. He emphasized that this celebration holds profound importance not only for Christians but for all humanity.
Reflecting on the spiritual essence of Easter, His Beatitude Sviatoslav stated:
"Today we celebrate the greatest feast not only for Christians but for all people. After His suffering and death on the cross, our Savior triumphantly emerges from the tomb!"
He further declared: "Today, our risen Christ tells us that death is not the end, that evil is never final, and that our life does and will continue."
Spiritual Support and a Symbol of Hope
In his message, His Beatitude Sviatoslav likened the Resurrection to a universal reboot, noting: "It is as if God touched the Universe anew and gave it new life. A restart has occurred for the reality in which we live. All that came before—our sinfulness, our inner death—has been destroyed from within." He stressed that "Christ does not merely console us in the face of death. Today, He gives us hope that death does not have the final word."
This Easter message arrives as a source of spiritual strength for many during a period of profound hardship. The text also references a traditional Easter bread, known as 'paska,' which survived intact in a destroyed home in the city of Sumy. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine published a photo of this bread, showing it on a table with a candle near portraits, one with cracked glass, amidst surrounding debris, covered only in dust.
His Beatitude Sviatoslav concluded his address with these words:
"May the risen Christ bless all of us and fill our hearts, our families, our Ukraine with His heavenly, just, and resurrected peace!"
This message serves as a powerful reminder of the hope and renewal brought by the feast of Christ's Resurrection.
The Easter message from His Beatitude Sviatoslav underscores the vital role of spiritual support in times of trial, particularly amid war and destruction. The mention of the 'paska' surviving the ruins symbolizes hope and resilience even in the most difficult circumstances. This communication can serve as a source of inspiration for the faithful and all people seeking solace and faith in a better future.
As the message of hope and renewal resonates, it is worth noting how the Ukrainian Church has been actively supporting the faithful through challenging times. Recently, a poignant image of a surviving Easter bread, or 'paska,' emerged from the war-torn city of Sumy, symbolizing resilience amidst adversity.
