Heating Situation in Kyiv
About 400 buildings in Kyiv remain without heating due to the massive shelling that took place on January 9 and 13, 2026. As a result of these attacks, critical infrastructure was damaged, leading to the shutdown of the heating system in 6 thousand homes.
On January 9, 2026, Kyiv was subjected to a massive combined attack, during which the enemy launched 36 missiles and nearly 250 drones. These attacks created serious problems for the capital's electricity supply since, after the shelling on January 13, there is a power shortage in Kyiv. As of now, about 500 apartment buildings are without heat, causing concern and the need for urgent measures.
Response from City Authorities
Petro Panteleev, a representative of the city authorities, noted that:
“there is a plan of action for each building and neighborhood.”
He also reported that:
“we promptly merged with systems at temperatures below minus ten,”
indicating efforts aimed at restoring heating in the city. However, the situation remains complicated, and further actions will be determined based on the development of circumstances.
