Russian Drone Destroyed Over Kostiantynivka
Over the city of Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region, a member of a mobile fire team from the Khyzhak Brigade eliminated a Russian Molniya-type unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with an incendiary mixture. This type of drone is employed to burn through anti-drone nets and target positions held by Ukraine’s Defense Forces. While on combat duty, the soldier, who goes by the call sign Dzhango, spotted the target and successfully neutralized it.
At first, Dzhango was unsure what he was dealing with.
“I didn’t immediately recognize it. We thought it might be phosphorus. It was burning and trailing a plume behind it. I’d never seen anything like that before. So I decided to open fire,”he explained. His first shot struck the incendiary payload, tearing it away from the drone’s body. He then hit the drone itself and finished it off midair.
Ukrainian Operations and Special Mission Results
Over the past month, the SBU Alpha Special Operations Center has destroyed more than 300 Russian Molniya attack drones. One interceptor crew alone managed to take down 100 of these targets. Additionally, SBU counterintelligence detected elevated radiation levels on fragments of a Russian Geran-2 drone missile, further indicating hostile aerial activity. An attack on Chernihiv region occurred on the night of April 7, 2026.
This incident underscores the critical role Ukrainian forces play in safeguarding the country’s territory and ensuring national defense. The Khyzhak Brigade and the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine continue to carry out their duties, demonstrating a high degree of professionalism and readiness to operate under challenging conditions.
The elimination of a Russian Molniya drone marks a significant achievement for Ukrainian forces, as these drones are widely used to strike Defense Forces positions. The high effectiveness of the SBU Alpha Special Operations Center highlights Ukraine’s growing ability to counter unmanned aerial threats, which is vital given the current military situation in the country. Such actions not only help protect territory but also boost the morale of Ukrainian troops and the civilian population.
In addition to the recent success against the Molniya drone, Ukrainian forces have intensified their operations against Russian supply lines. A notable strike targeted a logistics hub located just 20 kilometers from Pokrovsk, further disrupting enemy activities. Such coordinated efforts highlight the ongoing commitment of Ukrainian troops to maintain pressure on hostile forces and protect their territory.
