Russian troops are actively trying to strengthen their position in the Ukrainian city of Kupiansk. The head of the communications department of the Joint Force Group, Viktor Trehubov, confirmed that the Russians are trying to break through the city and strengthen their presence closer to the center, but at the moment there is no direct threat to the Ukrainian units.
«Undoubtedly, the Russians are trying to create such conditions. They are attempting to exert pressure from the direction of Stepova Novosilka, break through the city itself, and strengthen their presence on its territory closer to the center», – noted Trehubov.
Situation in Kupiansk
The enemy forces are actively advancing into the city of Kupiansk and trying to strengthen their position in the central part. The Ukrainian command asserts that the situation is under control, and there is no encirclement threat.
The city of Kupiansk is undergoing a 'cleansing' from Russian saboteurs, so it is currently closed to civilians. About 680 residents remain there, who are being urged to evacuate due to threats to their lives.
The Ukrainian troops are demonstrating resilience and effectiveness in defending the territory, but the situation remains tense, and Russian aggression continues to escalate. The enemy's attempts to strengthen their position in this strategically important city may be the first steps in the fight for control over the region.
