Bulgarian NGO Reports Suspected Wagner Group Facility Near Village

В Україні зафіксовано можливу базу групи Вагнера поблизу населеного пункту.

Facility Linked to Wagner Group Identified

A Bulgarian non-governmental organization, BOEC, has reported identifying a facility associated with the Russian private military company, the Wagner Group, near the village of Kladnitsa in the Pernik region. The head of BOEC, Georgi Georgiev, stated that individuals wearing clothing with the Wagner emblem were seen at the site, and a Russian flag was observed on a building. The Wagner Group, known for its operations in Ukraine and Africa, is a source of significant concern for European security officials.

BOEC has submitted a report on the suspected facility to Bulgaria's Ministry of Internal Affairs. However, Bulgarian authorities have not yet publicly confirmed this information. Notably, in November 2025, the Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported an incident on the Narva River, which separates Estonia and Russia, involving a Russian border patrol boat moving under the Wagner Group's flag.

Security Concerns Raised

This development raises security concerns as it points to the potential activity of the Wagner Group in the region. The situation's evolution could significantly impact security and stability in Ukraine and neighboring countries.

The discovery of a site linked to the Wagner Group in Bulgaria suggests the organization's expanding presence in the region, which could have serious security implications. Private military companies like Wagner often engage in conflicts outside their home countries, underscoring the need for international oversight and monitoring. The situation requires careful observation by governments and international bodies to prevent an escalation of regional tensions.
