Dara Wins Eurovision for Bulgaria

Bulgarian singer Dara claimed victory at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with her track "Bangaranga." During a press conference that kicked off at 3 a.m. Kyiv time, she opened up about her emotions and the journey to winning, which began with the national selection process back in late January. This marks a historic moment for Bulgaria, a country that has steadily built its reputation in the competition over the years.

'She has no idea what she’s doing, but it’s absolutely wonderful,' Dara admitted, describing how she felt after the win.

The singer also highlighted the power of music, stating: 'Music is the only universal language capable of bringing completely different people together.' Following her triumph, Dara urged the mayor of Bulgaria’s capital to start preparing right away for the next Eurovision, which will be held in Sofia. She specifically called for a large and beautiful red carpet to be laid out for the international guests expected to attend.

Sofia Set to Host Next Year’s Contest

The mystery surrounding next year’s competition was resolved when Bulgarian media leaders confirmed that the event will take place in Sofia. Milena Miliotinova, General Director of Bulgarian National Television, and Milen Mitev, head of Bulgarian National Radio, both verified this information.

With this victory, Dara has not only won a prestigious international competition but also laid the groundwork for a successful Eurovision in her home country.

Dara’s Eurovision win underscores the role of musical artistry in modern society and opens up new avenues for Bulgaria’s cultural growth. Hosting the next contest in Sofia, along with the singer’s call for early preparations, reflects the country’s ambition to strengthen its standing on the global stage and showcase its cultural identity. These developments could boost interest in Bulgarian music and culture overall, creating fresh opportunities for artists and the tourism sector.

As Bulgaria celebrates its remarkable achievement, it's worth noting that this victory follows a series of impressive performances in recent years. For instance, the country previously triumphed at Eurovision 2026 with a song co-written by a notable associate of a famous Russian artist, showcasing Bulgaria's growing influence in the music scene. This trajectory not only enhances the anticipation for next year's contest in Sofia but also highlights the nation’s commitment to musical excellence on an international stage.
