Roman Holodniak was born on July 11, 1978, in the village of Korosno, Lviv district, Lviv region. He studied at a local school and acquired the profession of a carpenter-parquetry at the Peremyshliany Vocational College. Later he graduated from the Diakivsko-Regent Institute of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
Roman was devoted to serving God and people and throughout his life helped communities with prayer and support.
Fighter for Ukraine's independence
In 2024, he joined the army to defend the independence of the country from Russian invaders. Roman defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine in the Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk sectors as part of the 125th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. His comrades gave him the call sign
Saintfor his faith and devoted service.
The defender was buried on October 3, 2025, in the field of honorary burials of modern heroes at the Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv.
Roman Holodniak left behind a widow, a son, and a daughter.
