Today we remember and honor the memory of Dmytro Fialka, the football coach who gave his life for Ukraine in the fight against the occupiers.
Dmytro Fialka was born in Lviv, but later moved to Israel, where he received education and citizenship. Upon returning to his homeland, he decided to join the military actions, defending the country from invaders. His tragic fate was to die near Bakhmut on September 1, 2022.
Dmytro Fialka was killed by a gunshot wound to the head in the battle for Bakhmut in Donetsk region when his daughter was going to her first bell for the first time.
He was not only a coach but also a volunteer who joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine after merging with the Volunteer Ukrainian Corps. After his death, a tournament among coaching teams was organized in honor of the fallen warrior.
Dmytro Fialka left behind a wife and two children, and his act of devoted love for Ukraine will always be remembered and honored.
