Brigades independently order interceptor drones: a new logic for supplying the army

The Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine has introduced the possibility for combat brigades to independently order interceptor drones through the 'Army of Drones Bonus' program. This innovation simplifies the procurement process and reduces bureaucracy, allowing military personnel to receive necessary equipment more promptly.

A new category of weapons and system integration

As part of this initiative, the Defense Procurement Agency (DPA) of Ukraine has introduced a new category of weapons in the DOT-Chain Defence system. Thanks to the 'Army of Drones Bonus' program, combat brigades can order interceptor drones directly, which enhances the effectiveness and speed of supplying the army. The program integrates three digital systems: Delta, DOT-Chain Defence, and Brave1 Market, facilitating the integration and optimization of procurement processes.

This autumn, tactical drones designed for combating reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) were added to the marketplace. To date, military personnel have already ordered and received nearly 5,000 drones from six different manufacturers. This step reflects a new logic of supply, where the main emphasis is placed on the expertise of the military.

As noted by Arsen Zhumadilov, 'we are prioritizing contracts with the manufacturers of the means chosen by the fighters.'

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal emphasized that 'we continue to expand digital tools that provide the Ukrainian military with the necessary speed and flexibility in supplying everything needed.' Thanks to these changes, the army is capable of responding more quickly to the challenges of modern warfare and supplying its soldiers with the latest technologies.

The introduction of the 'Army of Drones Bonus' program is an important step in modernizing the supply processes of the Ukrainian army, allowing military personnel to respond more swiftly to threats. Involving combat brigades in ordering drones underscores the importance of their experience and knowledge in selecting necessary technologies, which in turn can increase the effectiveness of task execution on the front lines. This approach, along with the development of digital tools, reflects Ukraine's commitment to adapting to the modern challenges and needs of war.
