Oil Cargo from the Smyrtos Tanker to Be Sold
The United Kingdom is planning to auction off crude oil confiscated from the Russian tanker Smyrtos, which was intercepted by Royal Marines in the English Channel on June 14. The Smyrtos was carrying approximately 98,000 tons of Urals crude oil destined for India, loaded at the Baltic terminal of Ust-Luga. Following the capture of the Smyrtos, other vessels—including the Maini, Lion I, and Sona—altered their routes to avoid the English Channel.
