British Volunteers Deliver Critical Aid to Ukrainian Forces in Lviv
In Lviv, the British volunteer group Mighty Convoy has once again provided essential vehicles for Ukraine’s military and humanitarian operations. This latest delivery includes five vehicles: three pickup trucks, a minibus, and an ambulance. The handover was conducted in collaboration with the Christian Medical Association of Ukraine, led by Rudolf Myhovych.
The Journey of Mighty Convoy’s Support
Since the full-scale invasion began, Mighty Convoy has organized 26 convoys, transporting a total of 111 vehicles to Ukraine. These vehicles play a vital role in combat missions, evacuating wounded soldiers, and delivering medical aid to civilians. The pickups and minibuses were allocated to the following units:
- The 103rd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade named after Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky,
- The 12th Special Forces Brigade 'Azov',
- The 20th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade 'K-2',
- The First Separate Medical Battalion.
The ambulance will be deployed by the volunteer group 'Mission Kharkiv' in the city of Kharkiv.
Lviv’s Mayor, Andriy Sadovyi, along with his First Deputy, Andriy Moskalenko, expressed their gratitude to the British volunteers for their ongoing support. Mighty Convoy is a UK-based volunteer community with over 2,000 members dedicated to fundraising, purchasing, repairing, and delivering pickups, off-road vehicles, minibuses, and ambulances to Ukraine.
The initiative was founded by Simon Brake, who first visited Ukraine during Euro 2012. Before the war escalated, he sold his IT business with plans to prepare for retirement, but the conflict reshaped his priorities.
Simon Brake said: 'Most people in the UK recognize that Ukraine is not just defending itself; it’s holding back evil and helping keep Europe free. We are fortunate to travel freely, sleep peacefully, and live normal lives, but we think of you and understand the tremendous cost Ukrainians pay to protect this freedom. What we do is our heartfelt contribution, and we will continue to stand by you.'
This effort highlights the crucial international solidarity supporting Ukraine amid ongoing conflict. The partnership between British volunteers and Ukrainian charities underscores the importance of both humanitarian aid and military backing in promoting security and stability in the region. Given the persistent challenges Ukraine faces, initiatives like Mighty Convoy’s deliveries remain indispensable and timely.
The ongoing support for Ukraine's armed forces is evident not only through vehicle deliveries but also through various fundraising initiatives. Recently, a charity event in Prague successfully raised funds aimed at equipping military personnel with essential supplies. Such efforts highlight the international community's commitment to aiding Ukraine in its time of need.
