British volunteer received Ukrainian citizenship and returned to the front

British volunteer Aiden Aslin, who found himself in Russian captivity in 2022, received Ukrainian citizenship and went back to the front lines. The fighter claims he will fight for Ukraine until its complete victory. This is reported by The Sun, citing 'Gromadske'.

31-year-old Aslin was captured during the defense of Mariupol, where he served in the Marine Corps of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was held in occupied territory, beaten, cut with a knife, forced to sing the Russian anthem, and threatened with execution. He spent five months in captivity until a swap became possible thanks to the mediation of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.

After being freed, Aiden returned to serve in the ranks of the Ukrainian army. He was awarded the Order of Courage and granted Ukrainian citizenship.

"I am British by blood, but Ukrainian by spirit and will. My future is here, in Ukraine," the fighter emphasized.

Fight for Ukraine by the British volunteer

Aslin has been fighting on the side of Ukraine since 2018. During the full-scale invasion, he defended Mariupol and was one of the defenders of the 'Azovstal' plant. After captivity, militants conducted a so-called trial over him in the so-called DPR, where he was sentenced to death.

Along with him, other Britons were also liberated: 51-year-old Shaun Pinner, 59-year-old John Harding, 25-year-old Dylan Healy, and 39-year-old Andrew Gill. At the same time, 45-year-old humanitarian worker Paul Yuri, who was also in captivity, died before the liberation.

Today, Aslin is back on the front line. He emphasizes that Ukraine needs long-range weapons, as Russia is learning to adapt to the conditions of war. The volunteer is sure: he will stay with his Ukrainian brothers until victory is achieved.
