Next War in Space?

According to Major General Paul Tedman, head of the UK Space Command, the next conflict is likely to arise in outer space, as military technology is rapidly developing there. He stated that Russia, which was a leader in space before the events in Ukraine, remains the biggest threat.

The general called for increased spending on protection against extraterrestrial threats and emphasized the importance of controlling outer space to ensure the safety of airspace. He also expressed concern about the levels of investment in space activities compared to other sectors.

«To ensure the safety of airspace, we need to control outer space. This will also provide freedom of maneuver on land and at sea. Logic suggests that before doing anything, we must ensure the safety of outer space,» said the British general.

At the same time, the government of Keir Starmer understands the importance of the space sector and has begun significant investments in this area. It was also noted that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense has already initiated the establishment of the Space Policy Office to collaborate with developers of military space technologies.

Increasing investment in space technologies and controlling outer space is becoming ever more important in a world where space is not only a source of research but also a potential field for future conflicts. The UK and Ukraine are actively moving in this direction, as evidenced by the attraction of new resources to these target areas.
