Buchach City Council's 2026 Fire Safety Regulations
The Buchach City Council has announced new fire safety regulations for 2026, which establish specific no-fire zones and outline penalties for violations. Under the new norms, it is prohibited to light fires within 30 meters of bodies of water, in forests, forest belts, parks, public gardens, and on children's playgrounds. Fires are also banned in nature reserve areas and in zones of elevated fire danger, including fields and peatlands.
Rules for Private Property and Associated Fines
Grilling in a private yard is permitted, but only if the fire is maintained at least 30 meters away from buildings. With proper site preparation, such as using a designated fire pit, this distance can be reduced to 5 meters. However, cooking with charcoal or wood on the balcony of an apartment building is strictly forbidden.
Fines for violating these rules are substantial. For instance, lighting a fire in a forest belt carries a fine ranging from 1,530 to 4,590 hryvnias. Illegally using a grill within a populated area incurs a penalty of 340 to 1,360 hryvnias. An additional fine of several thousand hryvnias is stipulated for leaving smoldering embers unattended. In cases where a large-scale fire is caused, those responsible may face criminal liability, including up to three years of imprisonment.
