30 Years of Ukraine’s Constitution: A Message from Kyrylo Budanov

30 років Конституції України: Вітання від Кирила Буданова

Constitution Day Greetings

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Office of the President, has extended his congratulations to Ukrainians on Constitution Day, marking the document’s 30th anniversary. In a statement posted to his Telegram channel, he emphasized that the Constitution has become the bedrock of the nation’s defense and security framework. Amid a brutal full-scale war, Budanov underscored, the Constitution reflects the core values of the Ukrainian people.

The Constitution’s Significance

Over three decades, the Constitution has evolved into a practical tool for safeguarding citizens’ rights and freedoms. Budanov noted that today it is more than a legal text—it is an enduring tradition of resilience. In his address, he expressed deep gratitude to all Ukrainians who actively work each day to bring victory closer and protect the rights and liberties enshrined in the Constitution.

“Our strength lies in unity and in people for whom democracy is not just a word but a way of survival. We have proven: when the nation’s existence is threatened, humanity itself becomes our primary weapon. We are fighting for the right to be ourselves,” said Kyrylo Budanov.

He also thanked everyone who “does not wait for instructions but simply does their job: defends, holds the line, and works to protect the state.”

The commemoration of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine’s Constitution highlights the document’s importance in modern times, especially against the backdrop of the military challenges facing the country. Budanov’s remarks capture not only legal aspects but also the emotional weight tied to Ukrainians’ struggle for their rights and freedoms. This day has become more than a celebration—it is a symbol of national unity and endurance in the face of ongoing threats. The head of the Office of the President stressed the role of every citizen in defending the state, reflecting a collective societal responsibility amid wartime conditions.

As Ukraine reflects on three decades of constitutional governance, it's crucial to understand the specific rights secured for every citizen. The ongoing conflict has highlighted the importance of these protections, making it essential for Ukrainians to remain informed about the foundational principles that safeguard their freedoms and democracy. This deeper understanding can strengthen national unity and resilience during challenging times.
