Kyrylo Budanov's Remarks at the World Economic Forum
Speaking at the World Economic Forum on January 20, Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, stated that the country is moving toward a decisive resolution of its war with Russia, but a swift peace is not assured. His comments underscore the critical need for international cooperation to achieve a just outcome.
“I want to believe we are on the path to a fundamental resolution of our war, which is the bloodiest in Europe since the Second World War,” said Kyrylo Budanov.
Budanov cautioned against expecting an immediate end to hostilities, noting that 'no one can guarantee peace will come tomorrow. Anyone who says otherwise is definitely not telling the truth.' He added that success in the near term largely depends on the actions of the Russian Federation. The war, now in its third year, has created a complex and volatile battlefield situation.
The Critical Role of International Support
Budanov outlined the difficult circumstances Ukraine faces and stressed that international backing is indispensable for reaching a peace settlement. 'We need a just peace, and it can only be achieved together with our partners,' he concluded. These remarks highlight the ongoing challenges for Ukraine as the conflict persists.
The statements from Kyrylo Budanov at the World Economic Forum emphasize that in a protracted war, achieving a sustainable peace requires more than domestic efforts; it demands active and sustained engagement from the global community. The just peace he described remains a paramount goal, necessitating a coordinated international approach.
