The State Budget of Ukraine for 2026
The State Budget of Ukraine for 2026 retains a socially oriented nature, increasing expenditures on social support by 47.6 billion UAH to 468.5 billion UAH. This indicates the government's intentions to continue supporting vulnerable segments of the population, particularly families with children.
Changes for Families with Children
Significant changes for families with children include:
- Increase of the one-time payment at childbirth from 10,000 UAH to 50,000 UAH.
- Monthly assistance for caring for a child under one year of age will rise from 860 UAH to 7,000 UAH.
- Assistance for a child with disabilities under one year of age will amount to 10,500 UAH.
- Introduction of the 'eCradle' program for children aged 1 to 3 years with a monthly assistance amount of 8,000 UAH.
- Assistance for a child with disabilities in the age category of 1 to 3 years will be 12,000 UAH.
- One-time assistance 'Schoolchild Set' for first graders will amount to 5,000 UAH.
The increase in the minimum subsistence level by 9.9% compared to 2025 also has a significant impact on social payments. The total amount allocated for social payments and assistance is 133.5 billion UAH. In addition, the budget provides for a subsidy of 1.5 billion UAH to support regions in forming housing funds for internally displaced persons (IDPs).
Roman Yermolychev stated that 'Budget-2026 demonstrates that even in wartime, the state maintains clear priorities'.
The adoption of the budget for 2026 indicates the focus of the Ukrainian authorities on social security, which may become an important factor for stability and support for the population in the context of a prolonged war. Planned changes in social payments, particularly for families with children, may strengthen economic support for vulnerable segments of the population and contribute to the social development of the country during a challenging period.
