The Bundeswehr, Germany's armed forces, decided to replenish their vehicle fleet with the help of Rheinmetall. A total of 1,400 military vehicles are planned to be purchased for 770 million euros. As reported by Euronews, this has led to an increase in military spending in Europe due to geopolitical tensions.

The order includes various types of vehicles, from container transport to unarmored vehicles for low-risk zones. Delivery is scheduled for the third quarter and will be completed by the end of 2025.

After the announcement of the agreement, Rheinmetall's shares rose by 3%. Overall, over the past year, the company's stock price has increased by 190%, making it a leader in the European defense development market.

The demand for Rheinmetall's products has increased due to Russian aggression in Ukraine, which has also prompted investors to expect increased spending on military equipment. Under pressure from U.S. President Donald Trump, Europe has also decided to enhance its defense capabilities, significantly impacting Germany's defense policy.

Currently, the Bundeswehr is actively modernizing its technologies and plans to increase defense spending to 3.5% of GDP by 2029. NATO has also agreed to raise defense spending to 5% of GDP by 2035, reflecting a reassessment of approaches to European security and defense.

The agreement to purchase 1,400 military vehicles from Rheinmetall will not only help Germany modernize its army but also confirms the general trend of increasing military expenditure in Europe influenced by geopolitical factors and changes in international relations.
