Ukrainian Championship in Sport Tourism
From July 21 to 27, the Ukrainian championship in sports tourism in the cycling discipline took place in the village of Denyshi, Zhytomyr region. The event brought together 14 teams, uniting 91 athletes from seven regions of Ukraine. The competition was held on the banks of the Teteriv River, where participants competed in various disciplines, showcasing their skills and endurance.
The participating regions included:
- Vinnytsia Region
- Zaporizhia Region
- Kirovohrad Region
- Kyiv Region
- Kharkiv Region
- Chernihiv Region
- City of Kyiv
Athletes competed in categories for adults, juniors, and older youths. The championship featured distances of II-IV difficulty classes, allowing participants to demonstrate their abilities in various conditions.
The competitions included teams competing in disciplines such as:
- Team 'Bicycle Rally'
- Team 'Obstacle Course'
- Individual-Team 'Complex Distance'
The last discipline included various elements, including figure cycling, bike cross, and trial. A feature of this year's competition was that it was held for the first time under the updated Technical Regulations, which enhanced their organizational level.
The financial support for the event was provided by the BGV Charity Fund, which facilitated the successful conduct of the championship. Denyshi once again became the venue for nationwide competitions this summer, indicating the active development of sports tourism in Ukraine.
Initiatives in Sports Tourism
In addition to the championship, there are also other initiatives related to sports tourism in the country. For example, in the Trykratsky Forest in Mykolaiv Region, the first bicycle route in southern Ukraine is being established. This project is being implemented by the Southern Branch of the State Forestry Agency of Ukraine, which will contribute to the development of bicycle tourism in this region.
The Ukrainian Championship in sports tourism in the cycling discipline in Denyshi highlights the growing popularity of this sport in Ukraine, as well as the active participation of various regions in competitions. The successful conduct of the event and support from charitable foundations signal opportunities for the further development of sports tourism in the country. Projects such as the establishment of a bicycle route in Mykolaiv Region also point to a trend towards improving infrastructure for cyclists, which could attract more tourists and active sports enthusiasts.
