Monks Arrested in Major Drug Smuggling Operation
Authorities at Sri Lanka's airport have taken 22 Buddhist monks into custody for attempting to smuggle 110 kilograms of cannabis from Thailand. All detainees have been remanded for seven days as the investigation continues. In statements, the 23rd monk claimed, 'These packages are a donation,' and added that 'a van will come to pick them up.' The incident has sparked widespread public debate, highlighting the challenges of drug trafficking in the country.
