Checkpoints on the roads have become an integral part of life for Ukrainians during the war. The military emphasizes: emotions and inappropriate behavior at checkpoints can turn a regular check into a dangerous situation.
The commander of the guard company at one of the territorial recruitment centers in Poltava shared which phrases drivers should avoid.
'The worst is throwing words that provoke conflict', the military noted.
Phrases That Can Create Problems:
'Let me through, I'm in a hurry' — the check does not adjust to the driver's schedule. Requests should be made calmly and without demands.
'It's none of your business what's in the trunk' — such a reaction only raises suspicions. If asked, it is better to open the trunk without aggression. At the same time, the military reminds: only the police can conduct inspections.
'I won't give documents' — refusal is perceived as grounds for a detailed check. The military may only request military registration documents, while other checks are conducted by the police.
'I will call influential friends' — boasting about connections often ends with a stricter inspection.
'We have no war' — similar words are perceived by the military as an insult or provocation.
'I will drive away and nothing will happen' — a sudden movement at the checkpoint can trigger a dangerous reaction, especially in frontline areas.
The military advises drivers to keep documents at hand, show them calmly and without comments, move slowly, and always keep their hands in sight.
'Politeness and clarity in actions is not a weakness, but a way to avoid danger,' summarized the TCC staff member.
