In 2026, Ukrainians, including pensioners, continue to pay not only for gas but also for its distribution. This tariff is charged even in the absence of actual consumption. This is reported by “24 channel”.

Gas Distribution 2026: Should Pensioners Pay

All consumers whose homes are connected to the gas networks pay for gas distribution. This is confirmed by gas distribution companies.

Payment is charged not for the gas used, but for the very fact of access to infrastructure. It concerns the maintenance of the networks and the possibility of using gas at any moment.

The tariff is determined by the NKREKP and is based on the minimum volumes of annual contracted capacity.

Importantly, even if a person temporarily does not reside in the house or apartment, the payment for distribution is still charged.

How to Stop Paying for Gas Distribution: Conditions and Procedure

The only way to stop the charges is to officially disconnect from gas supply.

For this, you need to:

  • contact the gas distribution network operator

  • submit a request for termination of supply

  • or provide documents for disconnection.

After this, the operator transmits the updated data to Naftogaz of Ukraine, and the charges are stopped or adjusted.

A recalculation is also possible if unreasonable charges were previously made.

Separately, the law provides for benefits for some pensioners. This applies to those who live in rural areas and have the appropriate work experience in designated professions.

Such citizens can receive discounts or compensations on utility payments, but the tariff for distribution as a service is not automatically canceled.
