A Ukrainian living in Denmark decided to limit her weekly expenses to 500 Danish kroner. In the first two days, she spent about a quarter of her budget. Against the backdrop of high cost of living, free food distribution helped her save money. This is reported by 24 Kanala.

The girl shows the progress of her experiment on TikTok on the page anna_chagarinskayaa. She films her purchases, calculates the remaining money, and explains how she tries to reduce her daily expenses.

How the Ukrainian spends 500 kroner a week in Denmark

At the beginning of the second day, the Ukrainian had 392 kroner left. Then she remembered about the local food distribution, which, according to her, takes place three times a week: on Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Anyone interested can take advantage of it.

Previously, the girl did not take food there. This time, she went to the distribution with her brother. They walked to the place and returned by bus. The fare cost 17.60 kroner.

They brought home:

  • potatoes, carrots, onions, radishes, cucumbers, and leeks;
  • iceberg lettuce and fresh mint;
  • apples, grapes, mandarins, an orange, a peach, and a lime;
  • yogurt, two juices, and two packs of buns.

This allowed them to do without additional purchases that day. Similar personal stories about shopping for food abroad show how everyday budgets depend on local opportunities and habits.

With the leftover trout, the Ukrainian made soup, which she poured into a thermos for her brother. She had snacks with buns and tea with fresh mint.

How much money was left after two days of the experiment

Total expenses for the two days amounted to about 126 kroner. From the initial 500 kroner, about 374 remain, which should be enough for another five days. This means that the girl has already used about 25% of the planned amount.

At the time of publication, the experiment was still ongoing. The Ukrainian planned to show her next expenses, so it is too early to claim that she managed to live the whole week within her budget.

An important feature of such calculations: part of the food she received for free, and she used products that she already had at home for cooking. The material also does not specify whether rent, utilities, and other regular payments are included in the budget.

Therefore, 500 kroner in this case cannot be considered the full cost of a week's life in Denmark. As in stories about monthly expenses in Spain, the outcome depends on what specific purchases and payments are included in the calculation.
