Ukrainian consumers will soon have the opportunity to buy apples at significantly lower prices. Experts predict a drop in cost to 30-40 hryvnias per kilogram during the peak harvesting phase.
Volodymyr Pechko, Head of the Association 'Ukrainsadvinprom', revealed the details of the upcoming changes in the market in a comment to the publication Kommersant Ukraine. According to him, the sharp decrease in product prices will be the result of a seasonal increase in supply.
Until now, Ukrainians have been forced to pay record amounts – up to 100 hryvnias per kilogram of apples. Such high prices have formed due to several factors: significant costs for storing fruits in specialized refrigerators with controlled gas environments, a significant increase in electricity prices, and a shortage of quality products after the winter period.
However, the expert warns about the temporary nature of the price drop. 'After a decrease during the harvest, prices traditionally begin to rise gradually. In the winter period, the cost of apples may rise to 70-80 UAH/kg,' explains Volodymyr Pechko.
Forecast for the upcoming season
A positive signal for consumers is the forecast for the next season. According to the specialist's estimates, the upcoming period promises greater stability, which should reduce the likelihood of repeating this year's price records.
Experts' comments indicate that Ukrainian consumers can expect a decrease in apple prices in the near future. The reduction in product prices will be the result of an increase in supply during the active harvest. It is expected that after a temporary drop in prices, the cost of apples will begin to rise, but the next season promises greater stability in the fruit and vegetable market.
