The State of Ukraine's Fuel Market
As of March 29, 2026, fuel prices have been updated at Ukrainian filling stations. The average price for A-95 gasoline has remained stable at 72.72 UAH per liter, while the average cost of diesel has reached 85.48 UAH per liter. The most expensive diesel is offered at the OKKO, WOG, and Socar networks. Conversely, the cheapest fuel can be found at Ukrnafta and BRSM-Nafta stations.
Impact on Agriculture and Government Response
At WOG stations, the price of gas (LPG) has risen by 1 UAH, which has also caused concern among consumers. According to Taras Vysotskyi, fuel costs account for approximately 10-15% of the production cost structure for agricultural products. This could lead to a 1-2% increase in prices for agricultural goods due to the rising fuel costs. The price of oil on global markets has already surpassed the $100 per barrel mark for the first time since 2022, which may influence the further development of the situation.
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine plans to investigate the situation on the fuel market to assess potential violations. The authorities also assure that they will attempt to curb the rise in gasoline prices.
"The authorities will attempt to curb the rise in gasoline prices," noted President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. In turn, Yuliia Svyrydenko announced that citizens will be able to receive cashback from the state when purchasing fuel at stations, which is intended to ease the financial burden on consumers.
The current situation on the fuel market reflects not only internal economic changes but also global trends, particularly the rise in oil prices on world markets. These price pressures are a significant concern for Ukraine's economy, which is still recovering from the ongoing war. The increase in fuel costs could have a significant impact on inflation, especially in the agricultural sector, which is already causing concern among consumers. The measures the government is taking to control prices may help reduce the burden on the population, but their effectiveness still requires assessment under volatile economic conditions.
