In the vegetable market of Ukraine, the prices for greenhouse tomatoes have unexpectedly fallen. According to analysts from EastFruit, over the past week, the price of this product has decreased by 14 percent.
Currently, for a kilogram of greenhouse tomatoes, one can pay from 40 to 55 hryvnias, depending on the variety and the volume of purchases. These minimal prices have become possible due to the large harvest across the country.
Farmers in the southern regions are most actively engaged in gathering tomatoes, using various types of greenhouses - from modern glass ones to simple film coverings. The accompanying weather conditions of the past weeks contributed to the rapid ripening of the vegetables.
Despite the high demand for this product, the supply of tomatoes is growing so quickly that prices continue to fall.
Even after significant discounts, the prices for greenhouse tomatoes remain 17 percent higher compared to last year. This reflects the overall inflationary trend in the food market.
Experts do not expect a quick stabilization of prices, as many greenhouse farms are just starting to actively harvest. 'Many farms have only just begun the mass harvest of these vegetables,' analysts emphasize, predicting further price reductions for tomatoes.
The situation in the market for greenhouse tomatoes in Ukraine is impressive, with a significant increase in supply and a sharp decline in prices for this popular vegetable. Over the past week, the cost of tomatoes decreased by 14 percent due to active harvesting and favorable weather conditions, contributing to the anticipated price drop. Despite this, specialists predict further price reductions as many farms have just begun harvesting tomatoes.
