In the Vinnytsia region, farmers have suffered due to incredible May frosts. According to reports, approximately 10% of orchards have been affected, and the yield of certain crops has decreased by almost half. Despite this, agricultural producers believe that the losses can be compensated by increasing fruit prices, particularly for pears.
The general director of the 'Vinnytsia-Sadvinprom' corporation, Serhiy Boychuk, called this season one of the most difficult in recent years due to natural disasters. A specialist from the 'Ivanivska Kalyna' farm confirmed that harvest losses in some orchards reached a staggering 40%, discussing the abnormally low temperatures that caused this disaster.
It should be noted that farmers have been forced to increase expenses for tree maintenance due to unfavorable weather, leading to higher production costs for pears. Despite these losses, farmers are very optimistic, believing in the possibility of increasing prices for Ukrainian pears by 30-40%.
