Prices for sunflower oil have risen sharply: the export market of Ukraine reacts to shelling

Зростання вартості соняшникової олії: наслідки обстрілів для українського експорту.

Prices for sunflower oil in Ukraine in 2026

Prices for sunflower oil in Ukraine have seen a significant increase in the export market in 2026, driven by shelling of infrastructure and an imbalance between supply and demand. During the first week of the new year, the price of sunflower oil at the ports rose by 22 USD per ton.

By the end of last week, demand prices for sunflower oil reached 1240 USD per ton CPT-port, which is a noticeable increase compared to the peak levels at the end of 2025, when prices did not exceed 1218 USD per ton. The main reasons for the rising costs are:

  • attacks on infrastructure that negatively affect production and delivery of products;
  • the existing imbalance between supply and demand in the market.

Thus, the situation in the sunflower oil market in Ukraine remains tense, and further price changes may be expected in conditions of instability.

The impact of rising prices on the market

The rise in prices for sunflower oil in Ukraine may have serious consequences not only for producers but also for consumers, both in domestic and international markets. In the context of the global economy, this increase may affect food prices in other countries, as Ukraine is one of the leading exporters of sunflower oil. Researchers and analysts continue to monitor the situation, considering the possibility of further attacks on infrastructure that may worsen the market situation.
