Earthquake in Kamchatka Triggered Tsunami: Fish Factory and Russian Military Base Destroyed

After a powerful earthquake in Kamchatka in the Russian Far East, a tsunami was reported to have struck the region. The force of nature destroyed the fish factory 'Alaid' on the island of Paramushir, according to 'Glavkom' citing Russian sources.



As a result of the tsunami, the enterprise was flooded. The factory is almost completely inundated, operations have been suspended and are unlikely to resume in the near future.


The tsunami wave, measuring 2.5 meters, destroyed all the premises of the factory, damaging equipment. The company reported losses of 120 tons of salmon and one ton of scallops were washed into the ocean. It is worth noting that for the first time during observations, the Krasheninnikov volcano exhibited activity, ejecting a column of ash to a height of 3-4 kilometers, which also caused damage in the region.



Consequences of the Earthquake and Tsunami


A strong earthquake was recorded off the coast of Kamchatka, triggering a tsunami in the Pacific Ocean. This natural disaster also struck the coasts of Japan and Hawaii, where an evacuation was announced. A new earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3, recorded early in the morning, will only heighten tensions in the region and may lead to further consequences.



As a result of the earthquake in Kamchatka, a natural disaster occurred - the tsunami destroyed the fish factory, leading to significant losses and damages. This has also affected other regions, such as Japan and Hawaii, where an evacuation has been announced.
