Denmark Backs $112.6 Million Loan to Boost Ukrainian Drone and Missile Production on Danish Soil

Данія підтримує фінансування для розвитку виробництва дронів та ракет в Україні на своїй території.

Loan Guarantee Secured for Fire Point Expansion

Denmark has committed to guaranteeing a loan worth 750 million Danish kroner (approximately $112.6 million) to Fire Point, a Ukrainian drone and missile manufacturer’s subsidiary, to establish production facilities within Denmark. This initiative will see a new plant built in Southern Jutland dedicated to producing solid rocket fuel, with operations expected to begin by the end of 2027. The loan is provided through the Danish Export and Investment Fund (EIFO), an entity involved in nearly 40 projects supporting Ukraine and fostering collaboration between Danish and Ukrainian enterprises.

Strengthening Ukrainian Long-Range Drone Manufacturing

Looking ahead to 2026, Denmark has allocated €1.26 billion to support Ukraine’s long-range drone manufacturing efforts. A recently enacted Danish law plays a crucial role by allowing the government to bypass certain regulations and public complaints when projects are deemed vital for defense or civil security. Fire Point, recognized for developing the "Flamingo" cruise missile, exemplifies Ukraine’s growing defense innovation sector.

Danish Defense Minister Jeppe Bruus emphasized the strategic importance of such partnerships:

"Ensuring Ukraine receives critical defense equipment and technologies via secure supply chains is essential for their ongoing defense efforts." Jeppe Bruus, Danish Defense Minister

Bruus highlighted that relocating Ukrainian defense production outside Ukraine offers improved protection against Russian attacks. He also stressed that Fire Point’s presence in Denmark enhances cooperation opportunities with the Danish Ministry of Defense and local companies, granting Denmark access to cutting-edge technologies and frontline experience developed amid the conflict.

This Danish-backed initiative marks a significant advancement in defense collaboration between the two nations, reinforcing Ukraine’s military capabilities while opening avenues for investment and technology exchange. Partnering with Fire Point is expected to drive innovation in defense technology and strengthen economic ties, a vital development given the ongoing security challenges in the region.

In addition to the loan for Fire Point, Denmark has reaffirmed its commitment to support Ukraine through various financial contributions and defense measures. This includes discussions on enhancing air defense systems to ensure robust protection against ongoing threats.
