Over 3,000 Hearing Aids Delivered to Ukraine by Denmark: Who Qualifies for Support

Більше 3,000 слухових апаратів передано Україні данським урядом: як отримати допомогу.

Denmark’s Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine

Denmark has sent 3,150 hearing aids worth more than 7.8 million Ukrainian hryvnias to Ukraine. This humanitarian shipment has already been distributed to medical facilities across ten regions, as well as in the capital city of Kyiv. The delivery is expected to significantly improve access to hearing rehabilitation for those in need.

Regions Receiving the Equipment

Healthcare institutions in the following areas have received the devices:

  • Dnipropetrovsk
  • Zhytomyr
  • Zakarpattia
  • Zaporizhzhia
  • Lviv
  • Mykolaiv
  • Odesa
  • Poltava
  • Rivne
  • Chernivtsi

Additionally, hearing aids were delivered to medical facilities in the capital. In April of this year, training also began for healthcare workers who will assist patients receiving the new devices.

According to projections from the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 2.5 billion people worldwide will experience some degree of hearing loss by 2050. This underscores the critical need for timely rehabilitation and support for individuals with hearing impairments. In Ukraine, children and adults with disabilities caused by hearing loss, as well as military personnel who have hearing impairments but have not yet received disability status, are entitled to free hearing aids.

These efforts reflect a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for people with hearing impairments and ensuring they have access to essential medical services. Providing hearing aids not only aids in hearing restoration but also promotes social integration and improves overall patient health. Given the growing number of people with hearing loss, such assistance represents a vital step in addressing this issue in Ukraine.
