Ukraine's Upcoming Friendly Schedule
The Danish Football Union has confirmed a friendly match against Ukraine, scheduled for June 7 in Odense. Both teams failed to secure a spot in the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Ukraine lost to Sweden in the playoff semifinal, while Denmark was eliminated by the Czech Republic in the playoff final following a penalty shootout defeat.
Prior to facing Denmark, Ukraine will play another friendly against Poland on May 31 in Wroclaw. That match is set to kick off at 9:45 PM Kyiv time. In their most recent meeting in 2024, Poland defeated Ukraine 3-1.
Coaching Change for Ukraine
The game against Denmark will be Ukraine's second under a new head coach. The last time Denmark and Ukraine met was during the 2006 World Cup qualifiers, where Ukraine won the home leg 1-0 and drew the away match 1-1.
Denmark has scheduled two friendlies for early summer: June 3 against DR Congo and June 7 against Ukraine. Ukraine's official matches will begin in September with an away game against Hungary on September 25 in the Nations League B division.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Association of Football (UAF) has shortlisted three candidates for the head coach position following the dismissal of Serhiy Rebrov. The finalists are:
- Myron Markevych
- Igor Jovićević
- Andrea Maldera
UAF President Andriy Shevchenko plans to make a final decision by the end of April.
These friendlies are crucial for both teams as they prepare for upcoming official competitions.
