The State Bureau of Investigations has launched a pre-trial inquiry into a serious traffic incident in Kryvyi Rih. The crash occurred on February 9 at approximately 4:30 PM, when a judge driving a BMW struck an 11-year-old boy. The child was crossing the street with his mother at a signal-controlled pedestrian crossing at the time.

The boy, born in 2014, sustained multiple injuries and was hospitalized in serious condition, according to medical personnel. The pre-trial investigation is being conducted under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers traffic safety violations resulting in grievous bodily harm. Conviction under this article can carry a penalty of up to eight years of imprisonment.
