In the last eight months, more than 29 thousand Ukrainian servicemen who previously deserted their units have returned to the army through a simplified mechanism. This was stated by the director of the State Bureau of Investigation Oleksiy Sukhachov in an interview with the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

'Thanks to the law introduced and the new approach to this problem, more than 29 thousand fighters who violated discipline have returned to the army, but received a second chance', - emphasized the head of the SBI.

This positive result indicates the success of new methods in the fight against desertion, which is a pressing issue during wartime. Sukhachov stressed that the simplified return mechanism was developed in cooperation with several key state structures: the Military Law Enforcement Service of the Armed Forces, the National Police, and the Office of the Attorney General.

'This new approach provides an opportunity for those who violated discipline to return to their military unit and continue their service under simplified conditions, with full support', - the head of the SBI emphasized.

An important feature of this system is the possibility of exemption from criminal liability for disciplinary violations by court decision. This demonstrates the humane attitude of the state towards its servicemen who need support in such a difficult period.

The return of such a large number of fighters to the Armed Forces of Ukraine contributes to increasing Ukraine's defense capability and demonstrates the country's readiness to address complex issues individually, taking into account the psychological and social aspects affecting servicemen during military operations.
