The official has been charged under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers the acceptance of an unlawful benefit involving extortion. A court has suspended him from his duties and ordered him held in custody, with the option of posting bail set at 998,000 hryvnias. This charge carries a potential prison sentence of five to ten years, along with confiscation of property.
