Introducing DeltaQuad’s New Evo-LE Drone

DeltaQuad, a Dutch aerospace firm, has launched the Evo-LE, a drone equipped with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) capabilities. Designed for surveillance, reconnaissance, and border security missions, this UAV can remain airborne for up to eight hours and cover distances as far as 480 kilometers.

Performance Features and Specifications

The Evo-LE’s VTOL design allows it to operate without the need for conventional runways, enabling flexible deployment in diverse environments. Key specifications include:

  • Maximum takeoff weight: 13 kg
  • Payload capacity: 1.5 kg
  • Radio communication range: 120 km (75 miles)

Flight endurance and range vary depending on payload and operational conditions.

To achieve extended flight times, the Evo-LE incorporates advanced high-energy-density battery technology paired with a dual-battery system. Its upgraded electrical architecture and enhanced VTOL transmission improve overall efficiency. The drone utilizes the DeltaQuad Block 3 airframe, crafted with reinforced composite materials for increased durability. Additionally, it features an automated landing gear system with 360-degree sensor coverage, alongside options for anti-jamming equipment, secure communications, and autonomous navigation.

Endurance transforms mission capabilities. Longer flights over target areas provide operators with sustained intelligence gathering and reduce the need for system rotations during operations. Ross Jackson

Mark van Shi emphasized that achieving this level of endurance "required comprehensive platform redesigns rather than simply increasing battery capacity." He noted, "The revamped design integrates high-energy-density battery technology with a dual-battery setup, a redesigned electrical system, and an upgraded VTOL transmission."

The Evo-LE represents a significant advancement in UAV technology, with the potential to greatly enhance mission effectiveness in security and intelligence applications.

This unveiling highlights the growing importance of unmanned systems in modern security and reconnaissance roles. The drone’s extended operational endurance and capability for prolonged missions without frequent rotations could revolutionize approaches to area monitoring and control. Such developments are poised to impact both military and civilian sectors that rely on drones for data collection and threat response.
