Most Ukrainians plan to ignore February 14 this year. According to a new survey by Rakuten Viber Dating, 66% of respondents do not intend to celebrate Valentine's Day. The main reasons are a lack of mood or a principled refusal to celebrate the holiday. RBK-Ukraine reports on this.
At the same time, the research showed that faith in romance among Ukrainians remains despite the difficult circumstances.
Valentine's Day in Ukraine: how many people refuse to celebrate
According to the survey results, 66% of participants do not plan to celebrate February 14. Among them:
57% noted that they have never celebrated Valentine's Day;
8% admitted that they used to celebrate, but this year do not feel like it.
At the same time, 28% of Ukrainians remain supporters of the tradition and celebrate Valentine's Day every year regardless of the circumstances.
Ukrainians' attitudes towards romance and love at first sight
Despite the refusal to celebrate, 65% of respondents stated that they still believe in love at first sight. Additionally, about 7% of respondents reported that they did not celebrate February 14 last year, but have certain plans for this year.
The survey was conducted on the official channel of Rakuten Viber Dating. About three thousand people participated, mostly aged 34 to 45.
