One-Time Financial Support for First Grade Students
The Ukrainian government is providing a one-time financial grant of 5,000 UAH to families of children starting first grade, aimed at covering school-related expenses. Parents are invited to apply for this "School Starter Package" until November 1, 2023. Applications can be submitted online via the "Diia" app or in person at the Pension Fund service centers. As of now, over 202,000 applications have been received, with approximately 194,000 already approved.
In 2023, more than 241,000 children enrolled in first grade, highlighting the significant demand for family support. The funds can be spent on school supplies, books, children’s clothing, and footwear, but only at designated retail outlets authorized under one of 30 specific MCC codes. This targeted payment ensures that assistance is used exclusively for educational needs.
How to Apply
Applications can be made:
- Online through the "Diia" application;

The initiative aims to alleviate the financial burden on parents preparing for the new school year and ensure children have access to essential educational materials. It also reinforces the government’s commitment to educational accessibility and family welfare during challenging times.
In addition to the financial support for first graders, families may also explore other available benefits designed to ease the financial load during the school year.
