Additional Compensation for Utility and Railway Personnel

The Ukrainian government has initiated special bonus payments for utility and railway workers who performed their duties during January, a period marked by severe Russian attacks and freezing temperatures. Each eligible worker will receive a payment of 20,000 hryvnias. The total allocation from the state budget's reserve fund for this purpose is 246.4 million hryvnias. These payments acknowledge the immense pressure on critical infrastructure workers during the winter war effort.

Over 4,700 employees have already begun receiving these funds. Of the total sum, 94.5 million hryvnias are designated for staff under the purview of the Ministry for Communities and Territories Development. The remaining 151.92 million hryvnias will be distributed to workers in the fuel and energy complex through the Ministry of Energy.

Oleksiy Kubra, Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine: 'The state consistently supports those who hold the country together in its most difficult moments. Utility and railway workers labored through frost and without sleep to restore light, heat, and water to Ukrainian homes. These payments are a token of our gratitude and a concrete step to support your daily, selfless work.'

Economic Significance of the Payments

These bonuses form part of a broader state strategy to bolster key economic sectors during the crisis triggered by war and energy challenges. The critical role of utility and railway workers in emergencies underscores their importance in providing the population with essential services like electricity and water, which are vital for survival during wartime.

The additional financial support is intended to improve the workers' material well-being and incentivize their continued dedication under extremely challenging conditions.
