Government Support Through the 'School Starter Kit'
Parents of children entering first grade in 2023 can receive a government grant of 5,000 UAH under the 'School Starter Kit' program. Applications are open until November 1, 2023, and can be submitted either online via the 'Diia' app or in person at a Pension Fund service center. To date, over 202,000 applications have been submitted, with nearly 194,000 already approved. More than 241,000 children started first grade this year.
How the Funds Can Be Used
The grant can be spent on essential school-related items such as:
- stationery
- books
- children's clothing
- footwear
It’s important to note that this financial aid is designated for use only at stores registered under one of the 30 approved MCC codes. A full list of these codes is available on the Ministry of Social Policy’s website in the 'Questions and Answers on Family Assistance' section.
Additionally, the 'Diia' app now offers access to benefits related to pregnancy, childbirth, and childcare for children up to one year old. This expands the support available to families during crucial life stages.
The 'School Starter Kit' initiative has become a vital resource for families with children beginning school, particularly amid current economic challenges. The high volume of applications reflects strong demand and appreciation among parents. Offering multiple ways to apply ensures that families can conveniently secure this financial support to prepare for the new academic year.
