The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine and the Partnership for a Strong Ukraine have signed a memorandum of cooperation

The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine and the Partnership for a Strong Ukraine (PFRU) announced the signing of a memorandum of cooperation aimed at supporting communities affected by occupation and hostilities. This cooperation will be implemented through memorialization, restoration, and sustainable development projects.

Both parties emphasize the importance of memorialization, which is a complex and extremely sensitive process. It is not only about preserving memory but also about creating spaces for people to understand and experience the pain caused by war.

Through joint efforts, DART and PFRU have already taken initial steps in Irpin and Borodyanka, providing an example of how memory can be combined with the restoration and development of communities.

The importance of restoring and developing affected communities

At the same time, it is important that affected communities do not remain trapped in trauma but integrate into the processes of restoration, economic, and cultural growth. They must create an environment that will be comfortable for local residents and attractive to guests from other regions and countries.

The 'Partnership for a Strong Ukraine' program is a multilateral donor initiative funded by the governments of the United Kingdom, Estonia, Canada, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, and Sweden.

We recognize the complexity of this journey and the scale of the challenges we will face; however, we are united with our partners from PFRU by shared values and a focus on creating quality outcomes that are primarily important for people - DART Head Natalia Tabaka

The signed memorandum between DART and PFRU aims to support communities affected by the war through restoration, development, and memorialization projects. This cooperation is intended to assist affected communities not only in restoring infrastructure but also in shaping a sustainable and modern environment for their life and development.
