Ukrainian Tax Authority Mandates One-Month Deadline for Personal Data Updates

Податковий орган України встановлює термін у один місяць для оновлення особистих даних.

Updating Personal Information for Ukrainian Citizens

Ukrainian citizens must now report any changes to their personal details to the State Tax Service within one calendar month, according to a recent announcement. This requirement applies to updates involving a person's surname, first name, patronymic, or current residential address. The press service of the State Tax Service (STS) provided this information. This rule is part of ongoing efforts to modernize the country's digital administrative services and maintain accurate state registries.

Online Application Procedure

To submit an online application for such changes, applicants must possess either a traditional passport booklet or a modern ID-card. When updating information for children under 14, a birth certificate is required. Foreign nationals must provide their Ukrainian residence permit, while internally displaced persons have a dedicated field to enter data from their relevant IDP certificate. For successful processing, scanned copies of documents must also be uploaded in PDF or image format.

  • Holders of passport booklets must scan all pages containing entries, including the registration page.
  • ID-card holders are required to scan both sides of the card along with an extract confirming their place of residence.
  • In cases of a surname change, a marriage certificate or divorce decree must be attached.

Once completed, the document must be saved, signed with a qualified electronic signature, and submitted for automated verification.

The procedure on the tax portal involves several steps: first, users must log into the system, then select the 'E-Cabinet for Citizens' mode, locate the 'Application for Amendments to the Taxpayer Registry (Form 5DR)' option, enter their taxpayer registration number, and input the updated information. Applicants must also provide details regarding their place of birth and current registered address.

'Updating personal data is convenient and queue-free through the Taxpayer's Electronic Cabinet,' noted the STS press service.

This initiative by the State Tax Service aims to simplify the process of updating personal information for citizens and ensure the accuracy of data in tax registries. The online application option allows Ukrainians to save time and avoid queues at tax offices. It is crucial, however, to adhere to the specified deadlines and document requirements to prevent potential issues with registering changes.
